A bottle of household chemicals was thrown at an Islamic school in suburban Chicago today, just days after a man fired an air rifle at a mosque in Morton Grove.

During Ramadan prayers this afternoon, people at The College Preparatory School of America in Lombard, Ill., heard a loud bang and found a 7-Up bottle containing household chemicals and aluminum foil. Lombard Deputy Chief Pat Rollins called it a MacGyver bomb, "which makes a loud sound but usually doesn't cause a fire." No one was injured.

On Friday, someone fired an air rifle at the Muslim Education Center in Morton Grove, Ill., during Ramadan evening prayer service. Police arrested David Conrad, 51, who lives next door to the center. Police say he fired the air rifle from his property. No one was injured, but the building sustained minor injuries. The court ordered an anger management evaluation before Conrad may stand trial.

“These and other incidents of anti-Muslim bigotry are occurring in an atmosphere of hate resulting from inflammatory statements by elected officials nationwide,” said CAIR-Chicago Executive Director Ahmed Rehab in a release, referring to comments Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL) made last week.
