It's not often that a restaurant does a preview for members of the public, rather than just for us media types or people on a fancypants VIP list. It's even rarer that they do it for free. But that's what Baume & Brix, scheduled to open in September, is doing tonight. They are hosting a free preview of their menu at Epic Restaurant from 6 - 8 p.m.

Baume & Brix has some culinary heavy hitters behind it. The owner of Epic, Steve Tavoso is the one opening the new restaurant, and in June Eater reported that they had hired Thomas Bowman, formerly executive chef of iNG, to run the kitchen. More iNG staff, including Nate Park and Ben Roche, jumped on board last month. The food itself is still kind of vague, but will be "globally-inspired." For us, that's code for: whatever the chef wants to do. But with these experts on the line, we're happy to go along for the ride.

What does this mean for you? The food is likely to be modern, complicated and delicious. Tonight's offering includes passed appetizers and samples of main dishes alongside complimentary cocktails. A risk-free look at a brand new restaurant two months before opening. What's not to love?

Epic is located at 112 W. Hubbard Street.
