Brian Urlacher Underwent Arthroscopic Knee Surgery

Chicago Bears middle linebacker Brian Urlacher had arthroscopic knee surgery today. Urlacher has been out of practice since July 31 after experiencing soreness and swelling in his left knee following the injury he suffered in the final regular season game last year. According to the Bears he will still be ready to play in the regular season opener Sept. 9.
He suffered an MCL and PCL sprain in gruesome fashion while playing against the Vikings. After rehabbing the knee in the offseason, he started training camp with full participation but was sidelined quickly after only a week of practices. With Urlacher out Nick Roach has been playing the middle linebacker position with Geno Hayes working at strong-side linebacker.
The surgery appears to be minor, but this latest revelation comes after speculation that Urlacher was seeking a second opinion while he was away from training camp for personal reasons.
