We might as well mention the festival you can't escape. The Air & Water Show technically takes place at the North Avenue Beach, but you'll feel its presence everywhere. It's impressive and patriotic, but it's also loud and crowded, city-wide.
The Air & Water Show is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
This Rogers Park street festival hosts more than 100 artists. It starts tonight with the Cobblestone Jam, featuring the Dimestore String Band and the Muddflapps. The musical lineup was put together by the Mayne Stage, Heartland Cafe and Red Line Tap, which are hosting parties to keep the fest going afterward. If you hit the festival on Sunday, check out the Glenwood Farmers Market. Bonus: The CTA managed to get the Morse Red Line Station open in time fo the festival to make your travel north a little easier.
Glenwood Avenue Arts Festival is at Glenwood and Morse on Friday from 6 to 10 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, from noon to 9 p.m.
The highlight of Edison Park Fest is the Jim DelMedico Fest Parade on Saturday at 11 a.m. The rest of the party includes a bags tournament, a dog show, Bingo and family-friendly musical entertainment.
Edison Park Fest is Friday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
This North Center street festival features the usual beer and street food with music from the likes of the Hairbanger's Ball and Sixteen Candles. If you're extra hungry, join the amateur Hot Dog Eating Contest at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
North Side Summerfest is on Lincoln Avenue at Irving Park on Friday from 5 to 10 p.m. and Saturday noon to 10 p.m. and Sunday noon to 9 p.m.
