Video Of Alleged Mad Decent Block Party Gate Crashers Shows Why Chicago Can't Have Nice Things

An attendee at this year's Mad Decent Block Party captured video of people gatecrashing, alleged behavior which forced organizers to put the kibosh on the whole thing. Expect "NO WAY!" and "I RSVP'ed!!" to become the new "DOUBLE RAINBOW!!"

A couple other things:

  • Seriously, how high off his gourd is the person taping this? He sounds like a stoned David Lee Roth overjoyed at finding an extra five bucks in his pocket.
  • Based on this video, Chicago's finest seem woefully unprepared for the inevitable zombie apocalypse.
  • This video marks an ironic post-script of sorts. Here's what we mean: Earlier this month, local dance/hip-hop duo Flosstradamus said that the Chicago Police Department "removed" them from playing Mad Decent. The reported reason? Because their set at West Fest allegedly almost caused a riot.

CPD's official stance is that they don't monitor shows or venues, or tell venues who to remove. But, it's fair to say, based on past events, that that message gets a little muddled sometimes.

Perhaps this video suggests that a poorly managed crowd, no matter what, will find a way to get out of control and make matters worse for everyone else.

Folks, this is why we can't have nice things.
