The Fountainhead Gets Rocky For Charity Tonight
By Lorna Juett in Food on Aug 21, 2012 6:00PM
The people of Colorado went through a lot this summer, suffering devastating wildfires and the horrific tragedy of the Aurora shooting. Tonight, give back to those in need simply by drinking Colorado beer.
Starting at 4 p.m., all the taps at Fountainhead will flow with Colorado beer and proceeds from purchases go to the Colorado Red Cross, and to the family of an Aurora shooting survivor, Petra Anderson.
Enjoying Colorado beer is only one way to help tonight, as you can bid on silent auction items that include a tour of Metropolitan Brewery, tickets to the Craft Beer Boat, a cruiser bike from New Belgium, a private beer dinner with chef Cleetus Friedman of City Provisions, rare beers, and gift certificates to other beer bars and restaurants in Chicago. In addition, bring your gently used clothing and The Fountainhead will ship it out to the Colorado Red Cross for distribution to the families that need it the most.
You'll also have the chance to purchase beers from New Belgium, Avery, Russian River, Left Hand, Lost Abbey, Alpine Beer Co., Breckenridge, Great Divide, Ska, and Chicago newcomer Oskar Blues. Non-Colorado collaborators include Russian River, Lost Abbey, and Alpine Beer Company.
Here's a look at the available drafts:

If we had to pick just two beers to try tonight, we would choose Oskar Blues Dry-Hopped Dale's Pale Ale, and the Avery and Russian River Collaboration Not Litigation.
The Dry-Hopped Dale's Pale Ale is brand new to Chicago, with beers from Oskar Blues available for the first time today. Brewed with centennial hops, this American Pale Ale is available on cask tonight, and should prove to be a real treat for hop lovers.
For dessert, The Collaboration Not Litigation Belgian-style dark ale promises brown sugar notes and sweet dark fruit flavors, and will pair nicely with cooler temperatures out on the Fountainhead roof deck. Also, Russian River is not distributed in Chicago, so this collaboration is a great chance to see what all the fuss is about. They brew Pliny The Elder, after all.
But don't rely on just our suggestions, as regardless of what you choose to drink at Fountainhead tonight, your dollars and time will go to a good cause.
The Fountainhead is located at 1970 W. Montrose
