(Legendary Chicago-based photographer Art Shay has taken photos of kings, queens, celebrities and the common man in a 60-year career. In this week's look at his archives, we share video of Art capturing one of his best photographs.)

The heroic, baton-swinging cop at the left who drew blood from three defenseless kids, as shown, has recently been identified (with the help of a good scanner) as Officer Andy Martorano. He is now a (retired) commander.

(Ed. Note: Below is video from the 1968 Democratic Convention. If you forward to the five-minute mark you'll see Art in the process of taking the photograph above.—CS)

If you can't wait until this time every Wednesday to get your Art Shay fix, please check out the photographer's blog, which is updated regularly. Art Shay's book, Chicago's Nelson Algren, is also available at Amazon.
