See Food: Chicago In White At The Merchandise Mart

By Anthony Todd in Food on Aug 27, 2012 7:10PM

The second of Chicago's two dinners in white happened last Saturday night. The homegrown version of the Parisian dinner event, Chicago in White was more than three times the size—over 1,600 people were in attendance—of Diner en Blanc Chicago, though it didn't allow wine nor have food available for pre-purchase.

This dinner was outdoors, in front of the Merchandise Mart. A stunning view of the skyline acted as a backdrop, making this version of the white dinner seem a little less intimate and a little more urban. People went all out, carrying flowers, white cupcakes, linens and dishes through the loop on the "L"—the least threatening, best-looking flash mob ever. "It's clear that Chicagoans love their local Chicago in White!" said organizer James Borkman.
