BP has posted the gas stations that sold tainted gasoline from its Whiting, Ind. refinery online in the hopes of making it easier for customers to determine if the fuel they purchased between Aug. 13-17 came from there.
BP recalled 2.1 million gallons of gasoline with a higher than normal level of polymer, leading to hard starts and engine seizures in cars containing the fuel. BP has received over 6,500 claims for repairs from customers related to the recall. Two lawsuits were filed in federal court in Hammond, Ind. seeking class action status.
The database is searchable by state and city. Ten gas stations in Chicago sold the tainted gas and if you believe you bought some at one of thee stations follow the guidelines at bpresponse.com to file a claim or call 1-800-599-9040.
