Doom Metal Legends Saint Vitus Coming To Chicago In September

Canonized doom metal innovators Saint Vitus are returning to Chicago for their first full headlining tour since 1993. The group plays an 8 p.m. show at Bottom Lounge on Sept. 30, and tickets are $20. Supporting acts for the 17+ show include Weedeater (of course), Sourvein and Kabuki Mono.

The tour is in support of Saint Vitus's latest album, Lillie: F-65, a comeback effort that is not only the group's first studio effort in 16 years, but also the first record to feature vocalist Scott "Wino" Weinrich since 1990's V. (Wino's an innovator's innovator when it comes to the slow, heavy sludge-and-resin filled doom metal sound, but most rock fans may know him from his work in Dave Grohl's band Probot).

Chicago is a special place for Saint Vitus, since the band reunited for a special show at the Double Door in July 2003. Wouldn't you know, there are clips of said reunion on YouTube. Watch 'em perform "I Bleed Black" below:
