Exploring multicultural roots—from television icons to street images—forms the basis of ROOTS at the Silver Room in Chicago. The show has been extended to run through September 14.

Put on by Unieros, which is a Chicago organization that hosts multicultural events to build cultural awareness, the show features work by Max Churney, Sebastian Kowalski, Hubert Neal Jr., Michelle Renee Perkins, Daniel Rangel, and Audberto Velez.

There's also work from the Walter O. Evans collection of African American Art, which is a large collection of works by renowned artists like Romare Bearden, Aaron Douglas, and Jacob Lawrence. The show explores the idea of roots, and artists interpret the various ways that childhood and later life influence their current mindset.
