Last December Eater Chicago interviewed Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan about a tea house he was opening in suburban Highland Park. That tea house now has a name (Madame Zuzu's) and it opens Thursday, Sept. 13.

Corgan told Eater Chicago what was originally intended to be a casual spot for people in his age bracket garnered so much interest across a range of ages.

"It's so much better than I could have hoped for," Corgan said. "It's people of all ages, even seven year olds are telling me they want to come to the tea shop."

Corgan and partner Sharon Macklin-Borberg will be serving a dozen different loose leaf teas, pour-over coffee from Intelligentsia and a rotating selection of desserts, including vegan options, from Bent Fork Bakery in Highwood.

To celebrate the opening, Corgan will be present and playing acoustic sets throughout the day. Madame Zuzu's is the latest addition to Corgan's plate: Corgan is also touring with Smashing Pumpkins behind their new album Oceania; he has a pro wrestling promotion, Resistance PRO wrestling; and he's working with Art Shay on a book/music project.

Madame Zuzu's is located at 528 Roger Williams Ave. in Highland Park
