Looking for love in all the wrong places? Consider attending Nerds at Heart's singles mixer 4-7 p.m. Sunday Sept. 23 at the Abbey Pub. Take a chance on finding love over drink specials while comparing IQ scores, comic book collections and the size of your slide rule and enter to win giveaways like character lunchboxes and fill your backpack with prizes such as Angry Birds slingshot pens, chocolate calculators and pocket science experiments. Everyone has a story to tell and the Grown Folks Stories series at The Silver Room was created to get those stories out there. Unlike other reading series across town the Grown Folks Stories series isn't based on themes, judging or topics—just you, a microphone and five minutes. Cara Brigandi will be your MC and segue provider. Throw your name in the hat and tell your story. (1442 N. Milwaukee Ave., 8-10 p.m. tonight)
