Chicagoist Wants YOU!

By Tankboy in Arts & Entertainment on Oct 8, 2012 5:40PM

2009_08_apply.jpg Chicagoist would like to add several more people to our Arts & Entertainment staff to fill in some gaps in coverage and make the site even better. Specific positions are listed below. If you're interested in any of them, meet the qualifications, can make the time commitment, and would like to join the Chicagoist team, email applychicagoist(at)gmail(dot)com with the position in the subject line. In the email, tell us about yourself and why you'd be good on that beat, and throw in a sample post if you like. No need to send us resumes though ... writing positions are unpaid for now.

Art Galleries and Museums
Do you circle the dates of art exhibits on your calendar from the city's major museums to pop-up art galleries, and everything in between? Can you write about art in a smart and cogent manner? Then we want to hear from you.

Comedy
Is your pal taking improv classes at Second City (or are you)? Do you enjoy cluing people in to our city's vast trove of ha-ha funny treasures? We want to giggle along with you so shoot us an email.

Movies
Our movie writers already do a great job of turning you onto all the hidden gems running through our city, so we're looking for some people that are interested in covering movie news and thoughtful reviews (not just recaps) of mainstream films hitting the theaters. If you think you're the cinephile for this gig, let us know!

Music
We're looking for music writers along a number of different genres. Currently we'd love to bring people on staff who are well versed in the jazz scene, the classical music beat and the world music local happenings. We would also be interested in adding someone more interested in just covering the more mainstream side of music news as well, so if any of the aforementioned fall in your wheelhouse, let us know!

If you'd like to apply for any of these positions, send an email to applychicagoist(at)gmail(dot)com and indicate the position you're applying for in the subject line. In the email, tell us about yourself and why you'd be good on that beat, and throw in a sample post if you like. Please only apply if you are able to write quality posts for the site as well as make the time commitment needed every week to research posts and to write them.
