Thanksgiving will be upon us before we know it and that means preparing menus for dinners across the city as well as a bum rush on turkeys.

If you want a turkey that's isn't a Butterball or Perdue, consider buying a Gunthorp Farms turkey through The Butcher and Larder. The Noble Square butcher store is now taking orders for turkeys via phone (773-687-8280) or in person at their store at 1024 N. Milwaukee through Nov. 11.

The cost of a turkey per pound will run customers around $5 per pound and come in the following weights: 12-15 lbs., 15-20lbs., 20-25 lbs. and 25 lbs. and up. Specific weight requests will be accommodated as closely as possible and the turkeys will be available for pickup beginning Nov. 18.
