You Oughta Know Alanis Morissette Is Coming To Town

If you're one of the millions of people who bought Jagged Little Pill in 1995, then tuned out, it's time to give Alanis a chance again. Alanis Morissette performs at the Riviera Theatre on Saturday.

After releasing her angst in Pill, Alanis calmed down and maintained a steady stream of solid slower tunes with poetic lyrics. After a few years of focusing on her acting career, notably as Dr. Audra Kitson on Weeds — not that she could ever surpass the role of God in Dogma — and having a baby, Alanis is back with her latest album havoc and bright lights. Musically, it is a return to form after her attempt to get folks dancing on 2008's Flavors of Entanglement.

While her material has never neared the power and anger of her first album, the last time we checked (2008) Alanis could still belt out those old tunes. And we're confident you know all of the words still, too.

Alanis Morissette performs Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Riviera Theatre, 4746 N. Racine Ave., at 7:30 p.m. Buy tickets here. Souleye opens.

Here is the music video for her latest single "Guardian."

And here's the music video for "You Oughta Know" since we may have gotten the tune stuck in your head with that headline.
