Dose Market Returns From Hiatus On Sunday

By Anthony Todd in Food on Oct 12, 2012 3:00PM

doseoct2012.jpeg After a bit of drama (and the loss of 3/4 of its founders), Dose Market, everyone's favorite food and fashion pop-up, is back this Sunday at the River East Art Center. There hasn't been a Dose since July; August and September were quietly cancelled. Has the market recovered from the loss of its founding foodies?

The answer: Sort of. The food lineup is still good enough to be worth a visit. We're especially excited about free sips from Greenbush Brewing and Journeyman Distillery. Bruce Cost Ginger Ale will be there, as will a bunch of different chocolatiers, bacon jam from LOCAL and croissants from Hendrickx Belgian Bread Crafter.

There's also tons of style and fashion vendors. Letterpress stationary by Spring Olive, Detroit Denim Co. jeans and t-shirts from Versed Apparel. Glitter tattoos, a photobooth, flowers - it's better than senior prom. Check out the whole list.

That being said, this installment of the market may be missing a real foodie "headliner." Many of the last few Doses had something exciting and dramatic on the food side to bring people in: Honey Butter frying chicken on site, Lillie's Q making sandwiches, Old Town Social slicing charcuterie, Nellcote selling home-ground flour, Jo Snow grinding snow cones, an on-site barista from Starlounge. This version doesn't seem to have any draw quite that large, though there is duck benedict from Sezna and chili from Salt of the Earth. On the other hand, maybe that means that it won't be quite so crazy crowded and the room won't be filled with flying grease.

Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 on site. Dose Market will be held at the River East Art Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
