The dust has cleared a little bit regarding who is Drew Peterson's legal representation. Peterson stood by his man and longtime attorney Joel Brodsky in Will County Court today. Peterson also asked that Steven Greenberg, who Brodsky fired from the Peterson legal dream team, also be retained. Brodsky and Greenberg have been at war with each other since Peterson was convicted of murdering his third wife Kathleen Savio last month.

Peterson's decision to stick with Brodsky, Greenberg, et al, came as a total and complete surprise (to no one but) attorneys John Paul Carroll and Michelle Gonzalez. Carroll and Gonzalez filed a motion for a new trial for Peterson earlier this week, claiming that Peterson told them he wanted new legal representation and claiming Brodsky provided ineffective cousnel.

Gonzalez told the Tribune after the hearing Peterson "seems to have a loyalty to Mr. Brodsky."

Ya think?

Will County Judge Edward Burmila stopped short of kicking Carroll and Gonzalez completely to the curb. Burmila granted Peterson extra time to seek advice from an independent attorney, so who knows where this will lead.
