Highwood Aims To Set World Records For Most Pumpkins Carved, Longest Line of Pies

Highwood is aiming for a world record-breaking week, as town residents attempt to carve the most jack-o'-lanterns, carve the most pumpkins simultaneously, and make the longest line of pies. They'll be breaking their own record last year of carving and lighting 30,919 pumpkins if they set their goal of carving and lighting 32,000 this year. But they'll be going up against Keene, New Hampshire, which first set the record in 1996 and wants it back.

The Great Highwood Pumpkin Festival kicks off Thursday with residents trying to make the longest line of pies (they're using pumpkin). The pie line record is 530 feet 8 inches. Then there's a pie eating contest. On Friday, they're trying to break the record of most people carving pumpkins simultaneously (the record is 965). Saturday they're going for the most pumpkins lit at once.

Good luck, Highwood!
