Watching Rare Tea Cellars expand over the last several years has been a real treat. Every time a new restaurant opens, odds are that they will boast a fancy tea selection. And if you look at the fine print at the bottom of the menu, more often than not it comes from Rodrick Markus at Rare Tea Cellars. He supplies tea to Next, The Publican and NoMI Kitchen, created a one-of-a-kind sparkling wine with City Provisions and Illinois Sparkling Company, and he even helped us to brew a beer! He has been an evangelist for the potential of tea, and now you can buy that tea (and other gourmet supplies) for your own kitchen.

If you're a tea drinker, we suggest you hide your credit card in the freezer—this store is dangerous. There are teas at all levels, including an affordable Regal English Breakfast and Extra Regal Earl Grey, but the real stars are the vintage aged teas. Some of these go for as much at $30 per serving, but most are more affordable. Remember when you are looking at the prices: 1/4 pound of tea makes something like 200 cups. Even if a tea costs $40 for 1/4 pound, that's still only 20 cents a cup.

There are also oils, truffles, syrups, jams and mustards. Everything a gourmet needs for a good time.
