The Smashing Pumpkins are currently on tour, they stop in Chicago later this week on Oct. 19, and while the band is promoting their best album in years we can't help but feel sentimental for the old days.

So this 1991 video of the band performing an in-store concert at Rose Records to promote the recent release of their debut album brings us right back to the band as they were slowly rising in fame. At the time they were a mostly unknown but buzzed about Chicago band on a small indie label (O.K., a Major Label subsidiary dedicated to less mainstream acts) but they wouldn't stay that way for long. The set list draws upon a couple of Gish tracks but we admit we were tickled to see the band open their mini-concert with a fine Syd Barrett cover.

Take a trip back in time with us, sit on the floor and cross your legs, and pretend you're at an in-store being serenaded by Billy Corgan and the old gang.
