Hawks To Play Charity Game If Lockout Continues

2011_10_6_blackhawks_logo.jpg With the ongoing NHL lockout, things have been pretty quite on the hockey front in Chicago. Apparently a group of current and former Hawks living in the area felt the same way, so they are organizing a charity game at Allstate Arena. Proceeds will benefit the Ronald McDonald House and the game will take place on Friday, Oct. 26 at 7:30 p.m. Jonathan Toews and Patrick Sharp will participate along with former-Hawks Adam Burish and Brian Campbell. Tickets go on sale 5 p.m. Wednesday at Ticketmaster.com and will range from $10 to $500 for VIP tickets that include a pre-game meet-and greet, event jersey and seats behind the front row glass.

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman is of course trying to ruin this plan by actually having a season. Finally after months of squabbling and little effort put forth in negotiating with the NHLPA, the owners have come forward with their first legitimate offer. The NHL offered a 50-50 split of hockey-related revenue with the season starting on Nov. 2. Under this plan the season will include all 82 games. The NHLPA is reviewing the offer and will comment in the coming days.
