Traffic on the inbound Dan Ryan will be delayed throughout the day after the ramp that feeds traffic from the Chicago Skyway into the Ryan’s local lanes was closed.

The Illinois Department of Transportation is inspecting the feeder ramp near 65th Street and Wentworth Avenue for damage after construction crews hired by Metra may have caused structural damage to the overpass while doing work on the “Englewood Flyover” project. Metra spokeswoman Meg Reile told the Tribune workers were cutting into concrete and may have cut too far, so inspectors were called in to be safe.

"If they created an instability, traffic vibration would worsen it," she said. "Since they are over a major expressway, they called in troops to inspect."

Travel times on CTA’s Red Line and Metra’s Rock Island Line will also be affected.
