Heartless Bastards Have Plenty Of Heart

It's been a while since we personally last saw The Heartless Bastards, so we're hoping to make it to their show at The Metro on Oct. 22. We fell for Heartless Bastards hard when we heard "Gray" off their first album Stairs And Elevators, but admit that our admiration of their recorded work waned upon hearing subsequent releases. But the band has always been downright ferocious live.

The group's latest album Arrow found us being won back over by a studio effort from the band. We used to love the band for their fury, but the new disc finds them finally figuring out how to tone their aggressiveness down with bunting their edge. So while there are still a few of the group's signature slow burners they also throw in a hefty dose of pop swagger, illustrated perfectly on the groove that carries "Got To Have Rock And Roll."
