The morning’s most gruesome news story comes from Naperville, where police found two children, 5-year-old girl and 7-year-old boy, stabbed to death in a home on the 800 block of Quin Court.
The children were discovered by police around 10 p.m. Tuesday night after a well-being check-in was called. A source told the Sun-Times two dogs were also found killed inside. Police have a woman in custody as of post time. She’s believed to be the mother of the girl and was babysitting the boy and, according to sources cited by ABC 7, was “covered in blood” when police arrived at the home.
The identity of the woman has not been released yet, but ABC 7 reports she’s a native of Poland who had lived in New York City before moving to suburban Mount Prospect. Naperville Community Unit School District 203 204 has called in counselors to Brookdale Elementary School, where the 7-year-old attended, to help families deal with the news.
We’ll update this post as more information becomes available.
