The 31st Annual Pilsen Day of the Dead Procession took place Friday evening and, as we wrote last week in our preview of the parade, organizers had extra reason to celebrate. The procession paid tributes to the community successful efforts to shut down Midwest Generation's coal-fired Fisk electrical plant. (The plant, after decades of spewing smoke into the sky, now looks eerily peaceful shuttered.)
