Tomorrow’s the big day when we all breathe a sigh of relief or hit the streets for some good old fashioned rioting. If you’re looking to take in the election returns in the company of like-minded individuals, here’s a roundup of bars and venues across the city throwing their own election night viewing parties:
Schubas
In collaboration with WBEZ and Do312, Schubas is hosting an election night viewing party / show—watch the election results on the big screen and enjoy a performance by The Statutes of Liberty. These freedom rockers surfaced in 2008 and brought some much needed fist-pumpable tunes to accompany the aggression of last election, and they’re returning to do the same this time around. Admission’s free, and WBEZ members get a free round of 312. Other food and drink specials: $2.50 312 drafts for all, free patriotic champagne toast, and a free dessert with purchase of entrĂ©e for anyone who brings in their “I Voted” stub.
The Statutes of Liberty play Schubas’ election night viewing party, 3159 N Southport, 7 p.m., free, 21+
Mayne Stage
Over at Roger’s Park’s Mayne Stage, the Orman Group and LJet Productions is throwing Chicago Blues Mamas for Obama, which will feature 10 legendary blues ladies singing about women's issues. The lineup includes Katherine Davis, Deitra Farr, Shirley King, Liz Mandeville, and Nellie Travis. Hosting the event will be Cookie Taylor and the NFL Alumni's Charlie Brown.
Chicago Blues Mamas for Obama at Mayne Stage, 1328 W Morse, 6 p.m., $13 in advance or $10 at the door
Maria’s Packaged Goods
Maria’s will wrap up its 2-month Election Brew Ha Ha Nov. 6 with The Final Conflict. You can take in the election results on their projectors and throw back some “Election Selection” cocktails: Biden My Time, The Mint Romney, The Oh, Bama!, and Ryan’s Song.
Election Brew Ha Ha: The Final Conflict at Maria’s, 960 W 31st Street, 8 p.m., free, 21+
Ace Bar
Watch the election results at this Lincoln Park bar while taking in a night of local rock. Headlining will be Sherriff Scabs, who are sort of running their own faux presidential campaign. Also performing are The Laffing Hyenas, Dana Lynn & the Dirty Creeps, and the Plaster Saints.
Sherriff Scabs play Ace Bar’s election night party, 1501 W Fullerton, 8 p.m., $5, 21+
Bar 1
Bar 1 locations across the city will also be free holding election night celebrations: Duffy’s Tavern & Grille, Durkin’s Tavern, Maeve, McGee’s Tavern & Grille, Redmond’s Ale House, and The Wrightwood Tap. Each bar will have 99-cent Bud products and will host its own mock presidential election—people can cast their votes and be entered into a raffle to win some prizes.
