Chicago's Best Chefs Gather At The MCA For The Food and Wine Chef Showcase

The stars came out at the Museum of Contemporary Art on Tuesday night as more than 25 of Chicago's best chefs gathered for the Food and Wine Showcase. We didn't manage to fulfill our lifelong dream of hugging Dana Cowin, editor in chief of F&D (in fact, we didn't even catch a glimpse of her) but we did have some great food.
Most of the dishes were pretty standard, if quite tasty, small appetizer bites - but a few stand out. Homaro Cantu and Richie Farina (of iNG and moto) created an edible riff on "food and wine" and the peanut butter sandwich, combining peanut butter packing peanuts with carbonated grapes. Rather than plating a single dessert, Mindy Segal (of Hot Chocolate) brought an array of her tiny cookie bites. We may have gone back 10-15 times; we hope she didn't notice.
Check out some of our favorite dishes in the gallery.
