Your commute through the western end of downtown will soon be back to normal. The intersection of Wacker and Jackson will reopen to traffic 2 p.m. today, with the Van Buren Street intersection, the Congress Parkway interchange, and the entire length of Upper and Lower Wacker Drive set to re-open Nov. 30.

That won't be all that's going back to normal. Franklin Street will revert to being a one way northbound street the first week of December from Van Buren to Lake.

CDOT Chairman Gabe Klein said in a statement:

“The reopening of the Jackson intersection is an important milestone in this final stage of the project,” said CDOT Commissioner Gabe Klein. “We expect to complete construction soon and open a modern, more efficient and safer Upper and Lower Wacker Drive.”
