Here's one of the weirder stories we've read today: a suburban woman is accused of stalking St. Sabina Catholic Church's colorful leader, Rev. Michael Pfleger, claiming that God wants her to marry him. Thankfully, Pfleger's vows to the Church—and an order of protection—have kept that holy union from happening.
Deerfield resident Lydia Kuzniar, 55, was charged with felony stalking Sunday after showing up at St. Sabina's Sunday for services, which violated an order of protection took out on her earlier this month. Kuzniar allegedly told Cook County prosecutors that since God wanted her to marry Pfleger, she didn't have to obey Man's law, and that the Catholic Church should relax its rules and allow priests to marry.
Cook County Judge Edward Harmening denied Kuzniar's request to represent herself, and she was ordered held without bond.
