Elzbieta Plackowska, the Naperville woman accused of stabbing her son and a 5-year-old girl to death last month, will undergo a psychiatric evaluation to determine if she’s fit for trial. DuPage County Judge Robert Kleeman granted the request by prosecutors Tuesday. DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin believed Plackowska’s defense attorneys would mount an insanity defense.

Plackowska allegedly confessed to authorities she murdered the children because she feared the devil would possess them, and then later said she killed her son because her husband didn’t appreciate her. Prior to the murders, Plackowska visited a priest and it’s unlikely what she told the priest will be revealed.

Kleeman also granted a request for television cameras to be allowed in the courtroom. One camera and one photographer will be allowed in the courtroom as Plackowska is arraigned today.
