New Trapped in the Closet Episodes Premiere Tonight

Who among us did not list new Trapped in the Closet episodes on our giving thanks list this year? After leaving fans hanging for five years, R. Kelly’s hip-hopera returns tonight with new installments airing at 8 p.m. on IFC.

When we last left the intrigue, infidelity, and sing-talking plagued Trapped cast, a rumor was swirling around the Windy City. Trapped in the closet of Rufus’ office, Randolph overheard Chuck tell Rufus he had “the package.” Randolph spilled to Rosie the nosy neighbor, and before long the whole town was talking.

What is “the package?” Chuck’s down-low status, hospital stay, and the rampant adultery of virtually every character in the 23-part series imply “the package” being passed around could be HIV/AIDS. The latest teaser installment, released last month, features R.Kelly as the narrator recapping the dubious p-p-p-p-package status. However, at the segment’s end the camera pans to a physical package next to an hourglass that is almost out of time.

Kells is nothing if not unpredictable, and we suspect the revelation of “the package” will shock and awe us all. With twenty new episodes already filmed, we’ll be able to enjoy this soulacoaster ride for a while. As he recently told TIME, “Trapped in the Closet is forever. I’ve got like a hundred chapters to come.”

After spawning one cast member marriage, countless tributes, and a sing-along series we can’t wait to see what the new R&B telenovela episodes inspire next. Refresh yourself on the first twenty-three chapters over at IFC and get ready because R.Kelly promises, “These next chapters of Trapped in the Closet is gonna be so crazy.”
