Gov. Pat Quinn isn’t letting a recent poll showing how unpopular he is in Illinois get him down. Responding to a survey conducted by Public Policy Polling that shows his disapproval rating at 64 percent, Quinn took a swipe at his predecessors Rod Blagojevich and George Ryan and said “I’d rather be the most honest governor.”

Quinn told NBC 5’s Mary Ann Ahern, "My job is to do hard things and sometimes they’re not always immediately popular, but I think the people of our state want an honest governor.” (This echoes what we’ve written previously that Quinn may not be the governor Illinois wants, but may wind up being the one the state needs right now.)

Quinn also reminded Ahern his approval ratings—25 percent of those polled in the PPP survey favored Quinn’s performance—were similar when he was elected Governor in 2010 and that he “look(s) forward to the future.”
