Renovations on the Fullerton Avenue Bridge connecting Lake Shore Drive with Lincoln Park is complete. A media conference will be held Friday to dedicate the bridge, which was originally built in 1940.

Renovation of the bridge started in March and led to some frustrated commutes during rush hour traffic, with only one lane open each way to access and exit Lake Shore Drive. The new bridge creates two turning lanes onto Lake Shore Drive, moves pedestrian traffic to the north side of the bridge in an effort to reduce accidents, make pedestrian access to the lakefront ADA compliant, rebuild the running path underneath the bridge and remove a pier leading into the Lincoln Park lagoon and improves drainage and landscaping around the park.
