Gov. Pat Quinn's office released a new video as part of his "grassroots" campaign to rally Illinois residents around forcing the State Legislature into doing something about pension reform. The video, "Kids Don't Have Lobbyists: Part I," shows a group of children around a table as part of a focus group conducted by pension reform advocates asking them questions about pension reform. Peep, peeps.

The girl yawning at the 44 second mark is our favorite part of this video.

Quinn's second attempt at framing the state's pension morass as an issue affecting Illinois' children is only slightly more serious than the "Squeezy the Pension Python" video. We see what Quinn is attempting, but the videos miss their mark by a wide margin. Besides, it isn't a table of eight-year-olds who need to understand the importance of pension reform; it's Michael Madigan, John Cullerton and the General Assembly. Maybe the news that Moody's downgraded Illinois' credit rating to negative will serve as a kick in Springfield's collective ass.
