Family Says Teen Killed Was Wearing Hoodie Of Slain Rapper Lil JoJo

An 18-year-old aspiring rapper was shot and killed in West Englewood on Christmas after getting into an argument with several men on a CTA bus. According to his family, Joshua "JayLoud" Davis was wearing a hooded sweatshirt featuring the name of his slain friend Joseph "Lil JoJo" Coleman, who was shot and killed in September.

According to NBC, Davis was involved in an altercation on a CTA bus with a group of men. They followed him from the bus, and Davis was shot several times in the torso and once in the ear. Davis' family says Davis was best friends with Coleman, and he was wearing the Lil JoJo hoodie at the time he was shot.

DNAinfo.com writes:

Johnathan Moody, a cousin of the victim, said he and other friends had warned Davis about wearing the "JoJo" sweatshirt around the neighborhood.

"We would tell him, 'That ain't good to wear that hoodie.' But that was his best friend," Moody said.

...

"I guess the guys he got into it with, they were with another clique," said Moody, 18.
"It's dumb. To kill someone over a hoodie?" Moody said. "It's pointless, man. All this murder is pointless."

Coleman was riding a bicycle in Englewood when he was shot multiple times in a drive-by shooting in September. After Coleman's death, Keith "Chief Keef" Cozart sent a tweet that seemed to mock Coleman's death, and Keef's crew was allegedly at odds with JoJo's crew in a rap feud of sorts. Police have not confirmed what shirt Davis was wearing when he was killed and whether Davis' shirt was a contributor to the argument that left him dead blocks from his home, or just a sad coincidence.
