One Killed, One Wounded In Old Town Shooting

One man was killed and another wounded in a shooting in the Old Town neighborhood outside of a convenience store on Sedgwick near Division around 6:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Neighbors told the Tribune they heard as many as 10 gunshots Tyshawn Blanton, 31, was killed. A 20-year-old man was shot in the back and is in serious condition. Blanton's sister told DNAinfo.com that he was a father of three. "We need more officers that live in this neighborhood," she said.

A man was killed in West Garfield Park earlier Tuesday. Darvelle Brown, 24, was found lying in the street shot multiple times around 6 a.m.

Six men were wounded in at least four other shootings across the city overnight. Two men were shot at a strip mall in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood around 4 p.m. Both were seriously wounded.

A 21-year-old man was shot around 7 p.m. near Washington Park. He is in fair condition. A 24-year-old man was shot four times and seriously wounded in the Altgeld Gardens housing complex. The Tribune cites two other shootings: A 20-year-old man and a 19-year-old man, each shot in the leg.
