We're now a week away from our Jan. 24 soup kitchen fundraiser at Benton House in Bridgeport. We told you about most of the soups being made for the event last week. Today we're revealing the local bakeries donating bread. There's going to be so much available you may want to consider bringing some sandwich fixings.

Chicagoist favorite Bridgeport Bakery is donating bread. So is Peerless Bread & Jam, located in the plant in Back of the Yards.

Bruno's Bakery, famous in the neighborhood for their sour rye, is donating 15 loaves of bread including sour rye, pumpernickel, classic rye and even their sunflower bread. Whoa.

Local cheesemonger Giles Schinerle will be donating some artisan cheese for the event, as well.

We even have a soup update. Allium's Kevin Hickey is sticking close to the neighborhood's roots with his entry: A Brussels kraut soup with potatoes, kielbasa and rye croutons. Hickey's even making a vegetarian version of this soup for the non-meat eaters. We also have another chef interested in participating and will reveal the name once it's confirmed.

Looking at the Facebook page for the event we spy 180 people confirmed to attend. We're gonna hold you to that. Again: It's a $10 suggested donation with all the proceeds going to Benton House's food pantry program, which provides food for needy residents in the neighborhood.

Benton House is located at 3052 S. Gratten Ave.
