Monday Afternoon Diversion: Manager's Corner With Earl Weaver
By Chuck Sudo in Arts & Entertainment on Jan 21, 2013 9:00PM
Baltimore Orioles Hall of Fame manager Earl Weaver passed away last Friday at the age of 92. Weaver managed the O's to the 1970 World Series title and his baseball philosophy was simple: Pitching, defense, and the three-run homer.
Weaver was also one of the most unvarnished talkers in the history of the game, as today's diversion shows. (The New Yorker's Roger Ansell called Weaver "the best naked talker I ever heard.") This edition of his "Manager's Corner" pregame show went un-aired in 1982 for reasons that will soon become obvious. (Discretion advised for language.)
Let's just say Ozzie Guillen had nothing on Earl Weaver.
