More Chicago restaurants are staking their claim to finger-lickin’ good eats these days. Even burger bordellos like 25 Degrees are getting in on the poultry action. The River North sports bar cum spiked milkshake heaven has recently launched Southern Fried Sundays, when you can savor Chef Tim Goodell’s fried chicken and two sides for $12. Side dishes include your choice of mashed potatoes and gravy, mac and cheese, collard greens, coleslaw, and cornbread.
Last Sunday we tasted the chicken with the collard greens and mac and cheese for ourselves. The latter makes use of some creamy bleu cheese among an assortment of cheddars and is ridiculously good. Ditto the bacon-flavored collard greens. So forgo the burger just this once while you’re kicking up your snow boots among the sultry velvet wallpaper. Sunday nights now belong to chicken—and finger lickin’.
25 Degrees is located at 736 N. Clark.
