- Everyone freaked out when the news came out that Great Lake Pizza was about to close. We heard reports of crazy lines, weeping, prostration and begging. Ok, really just crazy lines, but still, people take this stuff seriously! All those people will be happy to know that the owners of Great Lake told Time Out yesterday that the saga was not yet complete. They won't be bringing back Great Lake, but there will be a new restaurant coming in Spring 2013 and there will likely be pizza. If you want to stay in touch with the venture, email GLNextChapter@gmail.com.

- Speaking of fancy pizza, Flour and Stone, a new Brooklyn-style pizzeria, is almost ready to open in Streeterville. The menu is up on their website and it looks... refreshingly simple. Margherita, florentine and bacon pizzas, basic salads and sides and a fancy 600-degree oven; what more do they need? Eater reports that the opening is set for February 4. We were going to thank them for not putting an ampersand in the name until we realized... there is one. Sigh. Flour & Stone.

- The Goddess and Grocer made our best hangover brunch list earlier in January. All the drunks (and the rest of us, of course) will be happy to hear that the popular cafe/speciality grocer is expanding to a new location in River North. The store will be at 901 N. Larrabee Street and is scheduled to open in early February.
