Well it's about time we saw some of the white stuff on the ground, but it still may not be enough to snap Chicago's streak of consecutive days without an inch of recorded snow. The official measurement at O'Hare as of 6:50 a.m. is 0.4 inches, which isn't enough to raise us to Dibs Threat Level Blue but is enough to have us driving like we're in the Deep South, apparently. Illinois State Police reported a nine-car pileup on the Kennedy expressway shortly after 6 a.m.
As for the rest of the forecast we're due for overcast skies and a high just shy of 30 degrees. Skilling Central says this is the coldest stretch of winter we've had in two years and temperatures this January are running more than three degrees behind last year's pace.
