No one (bears excepted) escapes winter without a sizable indulgence in comfort food. Nothing makes our own four walls feel as cozy as ample recourse to fresh bread and pastries. Fortunately, Blue Sky Bakery is hosting two carb-loaded winter cooking classes. Each will provide its own share of sustenance to keep your energy up ‘til spring—or at least the end of class.

On Thursday, Jan. 31 from 7 until 9 p.m., you’ll break some homemade bread with your fellow bakers. You’ll learn how to fashion versatile white rolls to shore up cold-weather soups, sandwiches, and salads. A hearty soup and a salad will accompany the finished product.

Feeling low on joie de vivre? Then learn to perfect the art of the quiche (or cherry pie) crust on Thursday, Feb. 28 from 7p.m. until 9 p.m. After gleaning some secrets worthy of Le Cordon Bleu, you’ll sup on your own mini quiche with a salad and some petite sweets.

Each class costs $25 and you can BYOB with the best of them. Make your reservation by calling 773-880-9910 or emailing info@blue-sky-bakery.org.

Blue Sky Bakery is located at 3720 North Lincoln.
