Head Games, Steve James's documentary that looks at the connections between athletes who play contact sports and the long-term damage that could result including chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), is required viewing, in our opinion, especially as doctors and researchers discover more about the links between the two. The film is currently available on Netflix Instant, but we highly recommend attending a screening of Head Games 6 p.m. tonight at Tribune Tower. The film will be followed with a panel discussion by Tribune editor Tim Bannon, former Bear Glen Kozlowski, and Northwestern professor Bill Savage on whether head injuries in youth sports are being taken seriously in the wake of the new information and how knowing the connections can change sports in the future. You still have a few moments left to buy tickets to the screening; click here.
