It's another Firkin Friday at the Bavarian Lodge with a tapping of a barrel aged Schneider Aventinus Weizen-Eisbock. This is a wheat eisbock weighing in at a hearty 12 percent alcohol content, by volume. The first version of this eisbock came about largely by mistake. During one delivery of Aventinus Doppelbock in Germany over 60 years ago a barrel froze. When it thawed, the result was a highly concentrated beer. Schneider's Hans Peter Drexler decided to recreate this serendipitous event in the brewery's controlled surroundings. The Bavarian Lodge will tap the beer at 5:30; it's first come, first served.
