Well, this is unexpected but totally cool. This morning Jim DeRogatis drew our attention to the fact that Wesley Willis has been immortalized in comic book form as Wonder Woman's half-brother, Milan. Willis was a mainstay of the Chicago music scene in the '90s—peddling his DIY tapes of Casio-backed lyrically psychedelic joyrides—and a constant presence at local concerts. He would sell his art in the stairway of The Metro and greet everyone with a headbutt (it was a gentle headbutt, and almost always welcomed, trust me).

Willis passed away in 2003, but every few years a project rises up to remind folks of his unique soul, most recently in the documentary Wesley Willis's Joy Rides. This is the first time we've seen him turned into a bona fide superhero though! And a son of Zeus no less!

Rock over London.
Rock on Chicago.
Wesley Willis, he's Wonder Woman's half-brother.
