Dastardly's Gabe Liebowitz To Record Live Album At Schubas Next Month [UPDATE]
By Jon Graef in Arts & Entertainment on Feb 13, 2013 8:20PM
Dastardly main man Gabe Liebowitz emailed Chicagoist to inform us that he'll be recording a live solo album at Schubas on March 1 while his band, who made our Best Local Acts To Watch in 2013 list, is hard at work on a new record. Fellow local songwriter Ami Saraiya opens, and tickets for the 21+ show are a measly two dollars.
"For the past year, I've been juggling my time between writing/playing with Dastardly and touring around the country as a solo artist," Leibowitz wrote in his email.
"Dastardly is hard at work on a new batch of songs, but before I completely shift back to full band mode, I really want to capture the solo show that I've been working on for the past year or so," Leibowitz said. "It's a mix of new originals and interpretations of some of my favorite tunes (Bowie, Morrissey, Orbison, Dylan, Sinatra, etc...)."
Doors are at 6:30 p.m., and the show starts at 7. Here's video of Leibowitz performing solo at Cafe Ballou Chicago in 2011.
Update: Since this post went live, Liebowitz emailed Chicagoist to inform us the time and price of the show have both changed. Admission is now $5 and the doors open at 8:30 p.m.
