Nova Henry with her daughter, Ava.
Goings was hired by Nova Henry to represent her in a child support dispute with Curry and the two had a volatile, on-and-off romantic relationship. Prosecutors contended Goings became irate after learning Henry had hired another attorney to represent her and planned to fight paying him $24,000 in attorney fees. He shot and killed Henry and Ava in their South Loop home; Noah Henry, Eddy Curry’s son, was found by his grandmother, Yolan Henry, in the home next to the bodies of his mother and sister, and was said to have told her, “Fred did it.” Yolan Henry repeated that claim during testimony in the trial.
Goings’ attorneys argued there was no physical evidence linking their client to the murders. Yet police and a hotel worker at a Comfort Inn in Michigan City, Ind. testified during the trial they saw Goings scrubbing away at his fingernails to remove possible evidence and wanted his laundry done at a late hour.
Goings showed no emotion when the verdict was read, while nearly three dozen of Henry’s relatives cried and were satisfied with the verdict. Yolan Henry said, “I feel justice has been served for Nova, Ava and Noah.”
