Official release from Mayor Rahm Emanuel's office.

Today the Illinois Senate passed marriage equality legislation, which was one of Mayor Rahm Emanuel's legislative priorities. The Mayor celebrated the win by making this internet-friendly Valentine, and yes, this is an official image released by the Mayor's office.

"The freedom to marry the person you love is one that should be afforded to all citizens and, for too long, has been denied to our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters," Emanuel wrote in a press release. "When two people love each other, no government entity should stand in the way of letting them express that love."
