Bank Of America Chicago Marathon Registration Suspended Amid Website Problems [UPDATE]

HEY!
Registration for the 2013 Bank of America Chicago Marathon opened at noon and, almost immediately, running looking to register have taken to social media to complain that they're unable to register.
Sure enough, we went to the registration page on the Marathon's website, clicked through to register and were unable to do so ourselves. As of post time it appears to be back online, but things are moving slow, which we know can be frustrating.
Considering registration for last year's marathon filled in a record six days, it's easy to come to the conclusion that the numbers of runners wanting to run in the race overtaxed the servers. But we aren't coming to that conclusion just yet. Chicagoist placed requests for comment with the Marathon's medial relations contacts. If and when we hear back from them, we'll give you an update as to what happened.
Update: Chicagoist received this email from Bank of America Chicago Marathon's media relations team, which was also posted to the Marathon's Facebook page.
Registration for the 2013 Bank of America Chicago Marathon has been temporarily suspended due to system-wide technical issues on the part of our registration provider Active.com. Once the issue has been resolved, we will reopen registration. Please note that the 2013 Chicago Marathon has not yet sold out. We will provide a registration update as soon as possible. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.
